1. Is Seeking God First the Same as Doing Religious Activities First?

No. Prayer, Bible reading, worship, and attending church are important, but simply doing them first does not automatically mean God is first in our lives. We can finish our morning devotion and then allow money, pride, fear, or the approval of others to control the rest of the day. These practices should help us surrender to God and obey Him, not become items we cross off a religious checklist.

2. What Competes With God for First Place?

Many things can compete with God, including money, relationships, comfort, career ambition, reputation, fear, and the desire to control everything. Even good things can become idols when we allow them to govern our decisions or refuse to surrender them. The question is not whether we care about work, family, or security. The question is whether those things have become more important than obeying God.

3. What Does Seeking God First Not Mean?

Seeking God first does not mean neglecting your family, refusing to plan, abandoning your job, or ignoring your health and responsibilities. It also does not mean that God will grant every desire or protect you from all suffering. Instead, it means placing every part of your life under His rule and allowing Him to correct your plans when necessary. God does not become an excuse to escape responsibility; He changes how we carry it.

What Does “Seek First the Kingdom of God” Really Mean?

What happens when everything you thought would make you happy falls apart?

The first time I read the New Testament, one passage that caught my attention was:

“But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be provided for you.”

At the time, the verse was difficult to accept, but I knew it was important. Honestly, I first understood it as the key to success.

Our society often defines success through social media: the perfect life, the perfect relationship, and enough money to travel to some paradisiacal beach.

I used to think I would be happy once I had the perfect woman, became a millionaire, and owned a new Toyota Supra.

But over the years, all of that changed. I learned the hard way. I lost nearly everything, but in the deepest pit of despair, I found God.

Since then, He has shown me that He should be the center of my life. When a relationship ends, or a business collapses, God remains.
